A wider perspective, in Seville.
Language, culture, and learning beyond the classroom during a University of Florida study abroad experience.

Studying abroad in Seville with the University of Florida brought language and culture into everyday life. Naimad’s coursework included Flamenco and Neoliberalism in Film, complementing her Spanish minor.
In her Flamenco course, she studied the form’s history and the relationship among dance, lyrics, and sound. Learning La Sevillana connected that classroom work with a tradition rooted in Seville.
Travel took her beyond Seville to cities including Málaga, Granada, Barcelona, Madrid, and Valencia, as well as Morocco. Hiking El Caminito del Rey was a particularly memorable experience: an opportunity to step outside familiar surroundings and see another side of Spain.
Her reflections emphasize adaptability, independence, and the value of relationships. Speaking Spanish in daily life, navigating unfamiliar places, and forming friendships helped her appreciate how much there is to learn from other perspectives.
